Building Together Blessings

Last night, we traveled to Building Together Ministries (BTM) in Raleigh, NC. I did a reading during the regular Third Tuesday Supper Club. Now a BTM Supper Club, for those of you scratching your head right about now, is a dinner club kind of thing where believers meet to discuss racism and solutions through a Christian lens. Surprisingly, it's mostly fun and very often real but always rewarding. (Claude and I co-led BTM Supper Clubs for over a decade. Miss it soooo much.)

Anyway, last night after we shared a wonderful potluck meal they let me do a reading of The Making of Isaac Hunt. It was actually my first reading to real live reading people (no Elmo dolls in the audience). I was a little nervous but it all turned out so well.

There were about 15 people around the table. They all sat nicely and listened, with such serious faces, as I read. I was bracing myself for the rotten tomatoes (judging from those sour faces) but many of them approached me during the signing afterward to tell me how much they enjoyed it. Whew! No eggs or rotten tomatoes this time.

I'm joking of course. All in all, it felt like a homecoming. Even though many of the faces had changed, I felt welcomed and 'in my place.' I really miss leading discussions during Supper Club. My prayer is that The Making will bring me into those circles again. (So it's all a selfish conspiracy). *smile*

Thank you all for coming out and supporting The Making. Enjoy a few pix from the event.
